How do you ensure the analysis is accurate and insightful?

Qualitative is built around established qualitative analysis methods and guides you through each step of analysis based on the methodology selected for your research study. Over the years, we have analyzed a large volume of qualitative research through our platform, which has given us strong evidence that the results are consistently accurate, meaningful, and useful for doctoral research. You remain in control throughout the analysis process — at each step of analysis, you can review the results alongside supporting quotes and judge for yourself whether it meets your standards for both accuracy and insightfulness.

Will my university or IRB allow me to use Qualitative for analysis?

In most cases, yes. Our analysis add-on is software, similar to transcription or statistical software. It produces analysis that you review and verify against your transcripts. You remain responsible for the methodology, interpretation, and writing.

How is my research data protected?

Your research data travels encrypted between your browser and Qualitative's servers and is stored encrypted. It is never used to train AI models. Other users cannot access your project data unless you give them permission. Once your study is done, you can delete your project data from Project Settings, and once deleted, it cannot be brought back.

How long does it take to learn how to use Qualitative to analyze my research?

You do not need to read an instruction manual to use Qualitative. The initial setup session walks you through our analysis process and gets your project configured. You will then see the steps for your analysis method laid out. To analyze your research, simply click Analyze for each step, review the results, and then move to the next step.

What if my chair requires a specific analysis methodology?

Qualitative supports thematic analysis, reflexive thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke's six phases), interpretative phenomenological analysis (Smith), descriptive phenomenological analysis (Giorgi), grounded theory (Strauss & Corbin), narrative analysis (Josselson & Hammack), case study, discourse analysis, and content analysis. Bring the approved analysis method for your research study to the initial setup session. If it is not currently supported, we can create a custom project to support the method.

What can I upload for analysis?

You can upload recordings of interviews and focus groups, which Qualitative transcribes for you. You can also import tab-separated value (TSV) files of existing transcripts or survey responses.

How large of a study can I analyze with the analysis add-on?

The analysis add-on includes 1.5M input tokens and 750K output tokens, which should be enough for thematic analysis of 30 one-hour interviews across 3 research questions and 2 theoretical frameworks. Most studies will not need more. If yours does, you can purchase additional tokens as needed.
